What is Stress Management?

Although stress is a normal part of life, some people are affected more negatively than others and feel especially overwhelmed and worn out. Stress can manifest itself in different ways and can affect one’s emotional and physical well-being.

There are numerous ways to manage stress more effectively:

Relaxation techniques – since the mind and body are connected, relaxing the body is the first step towards learning to relax the mind. By tensing and relaxing specific muscles, one can be taught to have a relaxed response in stressful circumstances.

Breathing techniques – can relax muscles, lower blood pressure and help to manage emotions.

Cognitive therapy techniques – teach new thinking strategies that may have better results.

Time management techniques – result in improved productivity and quality of life.
